I have not read any of these but they look great. Give Them Grace looks really interesting. I’m more into the business books which is why I’m reading the http://www.12booksin2012.com books this year.
I read Lemon Cake last fall and ADORED it– such a strange story, but so lovely too. Highly recommended. 🙂
Have you ever read anything by Alexander McCall Smith? His Scotland Street books are delightful. I think you would enjoy them.
had high hopes for a specific reading list for 2011, but have abandoned that for this year and instead am just working my way, as the fancy strikes, through my bookcase overflowing with unread volumes.
I am mostly liking Lemon Cake (i got it on my Kindle app from the library). Did you find how the author doesn’t use quotation marks around people’s speech to be utterly frustrating? I’m having a hard time with that, but I like the story. I’m only a few chapters in.

i can’t commit to 12 particular books b/c if i don’t read them i will feel like i’ve failed :-). i take it a book at a time, swapping fiction and non-fiction. right now it’s “the red queen” by phillipa gregory [who wrote “the other boleyn girl”], which follows “nurture shock”… i just got a recommendation from someone to read a book called “the blessing of skinned knees”… your “orthodoxy” recommendation will stick with me, too.

What a great idea. I just don’t know if I could read one book a month. I just finished two biographies of Martha Stewart. One authorized, one not so authorized. Next I want to reread the Secret Garden. I want to read The Forgotten Hours by Kate Morton. Beyond that……I dunno. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on mini-farming, poultry, and farmhouse decor. Probably several other things along those lines.
You probably read far more books than I do! I’ve gotten SO out of the reading habit – filling my allotted time for “reading” with blogs, internet time-wasting and magazines. Time to fill my brain with more than snippets.
Oh I love The Secret Garden. So much. I’m interested to see how your mini-farming/chickens/farmhouse reading comes to life in your world! 🙂
